Nintendo DS 2 set for E3 reveal

Touching (again) is good

Following a GDC no-show, the handheld successor to Nintendo DS looks increasingly likely to make an appearance in June during E3.

Several sources have claimed that Nintendo is seriously considering an announcement related to the next DS during the annual E3 Expo in June, though the company hasn't committed to it yet. Strong sales are causing Nintendo to hesitate launching a new handheld for fear of cannibalising the DS's success.

According to RPad , the new handheld will come with higher resolution screens (a given) that are situated closer together. This would enable developers to essentially use the pair of screens as a single display if desired.

Development kits have supposedly gone out to select partners, though I was unable to get anyone to confirm as such on the record.
