A third game in Codemasters's spunky rally series has been nonchalantly confirmed by vice president Gavin Cheshire, settling speculation on what seemed an obvious move to build on the well-regarded franchise.

Edge got the scoop during an interview with Cheshire, who slipped in a mention of 3 in the midst of discussing Codemasters's general role in the gaming industry.

"Theres some great stuff coming from Birmingham thats going into DiRT 3."

Confirmations certainly don't get any clearer than that. Cheshire didn't provide any specific details about the game, although he did assert the team's desire to move the series in a different direction with "something fresh and new." will likely formally unveil the game in June during E3.
