New modes and weapon load out packs are boring additions compared to news that aerial jet packs should really mix things up in multiplayer.

Video footage of the game's component released by today highlights a number of elements added to the new instalment that promise to evolve competitive play from its previous incarnations.

Jet packs top the list, allowing you to zip around maps and engaging competitors from the air. Also coming to the game are assassinations kills (which we confirmed several weeks back), weapon load outs, and two never-before-seen modes of play - Invasion and Headhunter.

There's a lot to chew on when the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta kicks off on May 3.
