Contrary to claims that the internal clock error that rendered millions of consoles unplayable has been resolved, has actually not fixed the show-stopping bug.

Instead of issuing a patch to resolve the problem, Sony simply waited it out. By instructing PS3 owners to not use their consoles for a day, the leap year bug affecting the internal clock was simply passed over.

Sony never stated that the problem was fixed or that it has been prevented from occurring again in the future. In fact, nothing has been done to patch older PS3s with the problem and there's a chance such a debacle could happen again.

Hopefully Sony addresses the bug in its next update, but for the time being the problem hasn't be solved, just glossed over.
