Final Fantasy XIV beta on March 11
Square Enix reveal testing plans
Square Enix begins the process of launching massively multiplayer online role-playing sequel Final Fantasy XIV in two weeks with a closed beta test available to a select group of players.
The announcement, which was reported by Massively came during the annual VanaFest event celebrating Final Fantasy XI. That game will slowly be phased out as Final Fantasy XIV gains steam.
March 11 will mark the first time anyone outside Square Enix will have access to the upcoming online game, though it's an invitation-only beta. An open beta hasn't been announced, but it is expected that Square Enix will expand the closed beta by inviting more players as the game's autumn launch nears.
Final Fantasy XIV will launch this autumn for PS3 and PC.
