Sony has filed for patents in relation to a planned universal games controller.
The controller is to be compatible with all the current major platforms as well as legacy controllers for consoles like the Amiga CD-32, Atari Jaguar, SEGA consoles and the PC-Engine as well as emulating classic Gravis Gamepads.
The patents, revealed by Gamespot, show that the heart of the controller would be an LCD touch-screen that could be loaded with up to three controller configurations that could be switched between.
Other details revealed in the patent show that the controller would be wireless, using its own dedicated receiver, powered either by batteries or through the receiver, and loaded with rumble features and even a speaker like the Wii remotes.
