StarCraft II beta keys fetch a price
Real-time scalping
Blizzard's StarCraft II is so highly anticipated that keys granting access to the beta are going for a premium on auction site Ebay, coaxing staggering sums for an early play of the game.
The real-time strategy game is fetching upwards of 300 USD. It's a shockingly large amount for a beta key, Kotaku points out. Yet, this is no ordinary beta.
Fans of the franchise have been waiting years for a proper sequel, which automatically makes StarCraft II one of the most anticipated PC releases in years. Early access to the game is therefore a badge of honour among followers.
Some murmuring about extra beta keys being awarded to those who register early for BlizzCon has been floating around the net, but Blizzard has not made any announcement.
