spoke with assistant producer Matthew Hickman about the reasons behind the continued delay following a recent showing of the game by publisher Sega.
"The main reason: We really wanted to polish the game up, make it everything Obsidian planned it to be, and give the consumer a very polished game." Hickman claims that tweaks to the lighting and a new inventory system required months of extra development time.
Changes to lighting and the look of the inventory system hardly sound like reason enough to delay a major game from release. It sounds like Sega just wasn't pleased with the game's quality and made Obsidian work on fixing it up for a summer release.
