Sony Computer Entertainment America vice president of marketing Peter Dille hinted that work is underway that would see the release of classic titles as cheap downloads on PlayStation Network.

It's not exactly a revolutionary concept, especially since already offers games for download; however, demand for PS2 games is fuelling work on bringing noted titles to the PlayStation Store.

In an interview with IGN, Dille explains that Sony is urging publishers to release games from their back catalogue. "We're also communicating with all the third-parties about the success of the games, and other PS1 and PS2 classics."

While it's not a clear confirmation of PS2 titles hitting PSN, it seems that idea is coming closer to fruition.
