A price drop on the expensive PSPgo is coming soon as part of a renewed push for the handheld, a source close to has told GamerVision.

It sounds like a no-brainer given the underwhelming reception PSPgo has received since it launched in October. In fact, were down that month and have experienced only moderate increases in the months following.

Nonetheless, Sony has insisted that sales of the portable have been solid. Dropping the price would indirectly admit the handheld's troubles, which go well beyond price. PSP must contend with a growing and iPod touch gaming base that continues to put pressure on Sony.

GamerVision contends that Sony will likely wait until next month's Game Developers Conference to announced the price drop and new marketing campaign for PSPgo.
