Square Enix have confirmed this week that the original and its sequel are on the way to the iPhone.

Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II will hit Apple's handset this year, although the exact release dates and pricing is unknown.

Both versions of the game are based on the ports unleashed a couple of years ago, although we're told the titles' visuals will be spruced up for the iPhone, the controls presumably also getting some attention.

Final Fantasy VIII, meanwhile, will be released on the European come February 4th.
