EA Tiburon creative chief talks NBA Jam
Mark Turmell, EA Tiburon's new chief creative officer, has been speaking about his role in breathing new life into the Wii reboot of NBA Jam.
Turmell spoke to Gamasutra about joining EA and how he is helping to make EA Sports franchises more accessible.
Turmell confesses: "I couldn't be more excited to have this all kind of coincide with my arrival. The game's fundamentals are great, but of course, it's 15 years later. There's certainly a lot of additional effort and enhancement that has to happen."
His new role at EA Sports involves working on Madden and NCAA but as one of creators of NBA Jam he has been consulting heavily on the new game with EA Vancouver.
Even 15 years on Turmell is quite attached to NBA Jam. He said: "I'm looking at that product every week. I've sat with the team extensively, and I'm close to the product."
