The Asahi newspaper has this week hit back at claims they inaccurately reporting word on new from Nintendo, denying they 'misinterpreted' boss Satoru Iwata's comments in an interview.

The newspaper assures the "article quoted President Satoru Iwata's comment accurately," citing the exec as previously claiming a new handheld will offer: "highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing."

"Mr. Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo's future hardware systems. The answer to the reporter's question was misinterpreted," Nintendo of America claimed earlier in the week.

Rumour has it that Nintendo will be revealing new hardware this year - possibly as soon as E3 this summer.
