Retailers over Wii mini-game craze
No money to be made
Gamasutra reports that major US retailers have become disenchanted with Wii mini-game compilations, going so far as to decline carrying such titles in their stores.
"Stores like Target and Best Buy have reportedly told game publishers not to even bother approaching them with collections of mini games, which they will no longer pick up," Gamasutra writes.
Analyst Michael Pachter explained to the publication that the glut of Wii games combined with the quality of these mini-game collections has led to retailers limiting their stock because these games are just not selling.
What's more worrying, however, are poor sales of major Wii releases such as Metroid Prime Trilogy and Dead Space Extraction. 2010 will show this to be a fluke or trend.
