Majority of PSP users female
Purple PSPs abound
A new survey released by Nielsen claims that the majority of PSP user are female, shattering the convention that Sony handheld gamers are overwhelmingly young males.
It shouldn't really come as any surprise that 52% of PSP owners are female when you consider that women make up a disproportionately large share of the world's population. According to the CIA's world factbook, there's 1.01 guys to every girl.
Still, the majority of gamers overall are male. Nielsen puts female gamers at only 45%--a full 7 points below their PSP dominating average.
It's worth noting that this data only represents the US and likely would show a different picture if Japan and Europe were taken into account.
