300,000 USD spent on virtual MMO item
Space station investment costs big
I once heard that World of Warcraft has - by some measures - a bigger economy than the European state of Bulgaria, and it seems Blizzard's opus isn't the only MMO title attracting serious investment of real-world scale.
Kotaku today report the story of one Entropia Online player, who has just forked out 300,000 USD on an in-game space station called 'Crystal Palace'.
That's over 150,000 GBP on just one in-game item; all be it a very hefty item of course.
This investment may not be as crazy as it sounds, however, as player 'Buzz Erik Lightyear' will get a cut of every sale made on the station, of which there are many, while big profits can also be had from the creatures that inhabit the station.
More on this as we get it.
