The downloadable content that followed the release of Criterion's Burnout Paradise was among the best we've seen, and it emerges that the developers had even more ambitious plans.

According to an update from the firm, even more ambitious was discussed and in some cases worked on - although it wasn't released.

For starters, a whole series of 'islands' were planned (rather than just one), while motorcycles vs. cars would also have been a key slice of the DLC.

Then there's a moon environment, complete with lunar challenges, and even planes and boats. If all this content had eventually been delivered, Burnout Paradise would have easily been the most well-supported game, post-release, ever.
