While it isn't quite Sunday, we're still going to indulge in a spot of shameless tabloid rumour-mongering, it is nearly Christmas, after all - mag MCV (thanks Kotaku) running a peripheral advert mentioning a 'PSP-4000' handheld.

We already know about 1000, 2000, 3000 and models, but the new advert placed by 4gamers also moots the PSP-4000, an iteration we've never heard of.

Whether this could be an early hint at a fourth iteration of the console, or merely a mistake, remains unclear - hence our labelling this as idle conjecture for the time being.

We'll have more on the PSP-4000 if it turns out to be true.
