Having shipped over two-million copies to Japanese retailers, must be already popping the Champagne corks following an enormous local debut for XIII.

Long queues were expected at thousands of stores across Japan, despite the mid-week debut, with the main launch kicking of at the Tsutaya store in Shibuya early this morning.

The store opened at 6am to sell the to the pre-office crowds, and there was entertainment on-hand as Yoichi Wada, Square Enix president, lead the count down. Popstar Sayuri Sugawara was also on hand to usher in the new title.

Final Fantasy XIII is out in the West come March of 2010, where it'll be available on both the and the PS3. More soon.
