LucasArts today officially confirm that a sequel to the original The Force Unleashed is in the works - with a release in 2010 mooted.

No platforms are offered up as yet by or Activision, but it seems likely that as with the original title the game will land on the PC, and 360.

The first title shifted a whopping tally, just shy of seven-million copies, so a sequel was always highly likely.

Once again, players will assume the role of Starkiller, and the plot promising to pick up where the original concluded.You'll be playing as Darth Vader's secret apprentice during the time between Episodes III and IV.

"Executive Producer Haden Blackman and his team have been able to build on the core foundation of the award-winning original and create a powerful combination of engrossing story-telling and intense action. The Force Unleashed II gives fans an opportunity to wreak havoc on an even greater scale in the universe," beams LucasArts' President Darrell Rodriguez.
