Wada hopes Modern Warfare 2 breaks Japan
Can Western smash crack the East?
Talking on Japanese television, Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square Enix hopes that Modern Warfare 2 can help dispel the myth that Western games are inferior to their Japanese counterparts.
This may be at least in part down to Square's acquisition of the rights to distribute Activision's world-beating title. However, he does highlight that the Japanese still see Western games as inferior.
Wada explains: "Even now, there have been people in Japan using the label 'youge' (literally 'Western games') with a terribly discriminatory meaning."
He definitely sees Modern Warfare 2 as the game to change this, adding: "I'd like them to try it once. If they play it once, they'd realize how incorrect that label is."
