With the delays on the Stargate Worlds mounting, its developer, Firesky, has announced another little side-project they have been working on.

Stargate: is a third-person shooter, which offers gamers the chance to jump in and join the struggle between Stargate Command and the System Lords on either side.

Chris Klug, the game's creative consultant, speaks enthusiastically of the new title in an interview on the developer blog: "Resistance brings to our fans the kind of gameplay SGW never planned to deliver. Resistance delivers the combat, weapons and tactics seen so often on the show that many of you have been asking for."

He adds: "I know this game will excite fans who have longed to go toe-to-toe with a Jaffa as well as those who always wanted to dominate the galaxy in ways the MMO could only hint at."

At least this means that there is an end in sight for those waiting eagerly for a Stargate game even if it isn't the MMO that they were promised.
