EA boss John Riccitello, speaking at the UMS annual Global Media and Communications Conference in New York this week, laid down EA's plans for making 2010 their year. Key to this will be 2 and Battlefield: 2.

"We expect to be one of the biggest games in the in 2010," he said adding that they hoped to build on the immense success of the first game.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has been set the huge task of de-throning Call of Duty. Riccitello stressed: "Battlefield represents our best opportunity of taking the first-person business back from Activision."

Looking to capitalise on any perceived 'staleness' of Activision's behemoth war series he added: "Often, in a category as competitive as this, a title can get tired. I think we're at that point, and I think represents our best opportunity of taking that genre back."

Bad Company 2's task will be supported by the return of Medal of Honor, with DICE and LA working hand-in-hand to revitalise the series that pioneered the genre now commands.
