A new report from Group puts hard data behind the notion that kids like to play games, stating that 82% of children currently seek out games for entertainment.

Consider the stereotype of game-obsessed kids to be largely true. It seems obvious, though the study proves useful data that show gaming has steadily increased among kids over the last decade. The growing ubiquity of video games has supported that rise whether on console, handheld, PC, or other platforms.

NPD Group note that the amount of time spent playing games varies by age and sex. Unsurprisingly, girls are less likely to go and play games than boys, for example. Also, pre-teens are the most active gamers.

The study doesn't reveal what games the little ones are playing, sadly. 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, perhaps? After all, rap is so popular with the kids these days.
