Puzzle Quest levels up with sequel
Match-three +2
The January issue of GamePro reveals first details on Puzzle Quest 2, the role-playing puzzle follow up expected for release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
While concrete details about gameplay and the range of platforms on which the sequel is to be released, the announcement makes clear that Puzzle Quest 2 continues directly from the fantasy setting of the original instead of the intergalactic adventuring of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix.
The first official screenshot depicts a battle between a barbaric-looking hero named Ulf and green goblin. It appears that the game returns to the match-three formula too, veering away from the four-piece matches required in Galactrix.
New are black gauntlet tiles, which are scattered about the grid. Precisely what their role in battle is unclear, though it could likely boost attack power or grant access to a special ability.
An Xbox Live and PlayStation Network release are in the cards, though no word yet on a DS, PSP, or iPhone version. Expect plenty more details soon.
