Pandemic Studios could close today
EA could see studio close for good later
Electronic Arts could be set to officially close Pandemic Studios as of today, according to word in from Kotaku.
The fate of the studio behind Mercenaries and Star Wars: Battlefront has been sealed for some time, although the fact that the outfit may be closing today still comes as something of a shock.
Rumour has it that some 200 staff at the studio's LA base will be laid-off today, with others integrated into other projects.
The studio was formed back in 1998, and was acquired by EA in 2007, but things have not gone as well as had been hoped (see The Dark Knight).
Speculation suggests The Saboteur IP and other properties will pass to EA Montreal, although given that nothing official has been offered by either the studio or EA yet we'll just have to wait and see.
