Big cheese wanted online play in New Mario Bros
Fils-Aime held candle for multiplayer online
The developers of New Super Mario Bros Wii at Nintendo apparently scuppered their own executive's dreams when they omitted online multiplayer action from the new platformer.
Apparently, Nintendo US boss Reggie Fils-Aime was clamouring for the feature but his opinions were overruled by the developers who wanted to focus on top-notch four-way local play.
"This was a decision made purely by the developers. They believe this experience, in the same room, to be elbowing your friends and family members as youre playing the game [is ideal]. It was really their decision," Fils-Aime told Kotaku.
"I personally would have loved for it to be online capable as well, but having played the game, I really can't fault it for not being online multiplayer."
The new platformer will land this week.
