A shady version of Call of Duty: 2 is said to be doing the rounds on the internet's Torrent networks, with said to be livid at the appearance of this illegal version.

Those caught playing unauthorised copies of the game face "vigorous action" according to a new statement today, with Live bans a strong possibility.

"Our commitment to combating and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Live community remains a top priority," reads a statement published by CVG, failing to mention MW2 by name.

"All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them.

"We take vigorous against illegal activity related to our products and services, but we do not comment on those details. Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 to play pirated games will void their warranty."

More on this as we get it.
