The series of games has now passed the 100 million units mark, publishing giant have confirmed today.

Apparently, the series has amassed a whopping 2.7 billion USD in revenues - the firm claiming that this makes Need for Speed the most popular racing IP.

The series began back in 1994, and has hit 22 languages through releases across 60 nations. A total of 14 gaming platforms have enjoyed the Need for Speed experience.

Lastly, EA reveal that they have sold enough copies of the game for there to be nearly one copy for every household in the new United States. The latest version, Shift, is currently riding high in the charts.
