Having acquired the rights to his original Red Baron series from Activision, game maker Damon Slye has revealed to Eurogamer.net that he has high hopes for the re-emergence of the franchise.

Slye hopes to muster a new version of the class flight sim using a brand new engine, while the gaming maestro also has "a lot of ideas" for the design side of the franchise.

"Red Baron is a special game for me. We were passionate about making the greatest game ever!"

Slye released the original Red Baron on the back in 1990, before becoming a real pilot. "We built a great game back in 1989, and launched it into the world, never expecting to see it again. The whole experience feels like some strange boomerang blown by the winds of fate unerringly back to its source."

More soon.
