Scotland consider gaming tax breaks
Politician hopes to help Real Time Worlds
With a number of high profile game makers threatening to leave Scotland in order to relocate to country's where tax breaks are available, Scottish secretary of state Jim Murphy has suggested a raft of tax breaks.
APB creators Real Time Worlds have already admitted they may ditch Dundee for Ireland, where large tax breaks are on offer, but Murphy is keen to support local development talent where possible.
"We have had a discussion about tax breaks and ways to support the industry. France have introduced tax breaks and we want to talk more about that and we will listen to any strong case being made; we want to do whatever we can to help," Murphy told the Evening Standard newspaper.
"Dundee is the Scottish centre of excellence in this industry. I want to be very clear about that. The games industry has a big future and Dundee has a big future to play in that, in Scotland, in the UK and wider."
More as we get it. Thanks Develop.
