Sony talk up PSP Go and PS3 sales success
Tretton hails console success
Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Jack Tretton has said this week that he 'couldn't be happier' with sales of the PS3 - since the price of the console was cut, and Sony introduced the PS3 Slim SKU.
"Skyrocketing sales, couldn't be happier with the numbers that we're seeing, and I think proof that there was tremendous consumer demand, they were just waiting for the price-point to come down," Tretton tells Forbes.
Tretton added that Microsoft are in an enviable position with the Xbox 360 - in that their vast resources give them the opportunity to be patient, while Sony must strive for profitability.
In related news, sales of the PSP Go are up 100 percent in Europe since the 'Go' SKU was introduced, with big new games like Gran Turismo and FIFA 10 said to be driving software sales.
We'll have more from Sony very soon.
