Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe TV show, which aired on the UK's BBC4 last night, was declared a hit - Brooker playing down talk of a full series while at the same time saying viewer numbers beat those achieved by Newswipe and Screenwipe.

"Dunno bout a series, wd maybe another one-off if asked. May now cover games in Screenwipe tho," Brooker told Twitter, later adding "Caring about ratings is a terrible illness BUT Gameswipe easily outdid both Screen & News Wipe in terms of 'numbers' last night."

The one-off Gameswipe episode can be viewed on iPlayer now if you're in the UK, and this was comfortably one of Blighty's better stabs at games-on-television.

Charlie Brooker is of course something of a gamer - having started off his career in games journalism before moving into the realms of broadcasting. There's hope for us all, it would seem
