Yoicha Wada wants more mature Japanese games
Square Enix chief sees adult future
Speaking at a Tokyo Game Show panel today, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada has said that he wants to see Japanese game makers embracing the creation of more 'mature' video games.
According to Joystiq he offered: "There are not many publishers that create games for adults. In the West, they tend to believe it's cool to play games, even adults."
Wada-san believes changes at the regional ratings agency might be needed to make it easier to release violent, mature titles in Japan, although he adds that protecting children is also important.
Speaking alongside other big names in the Japanese games industry, the Square Enix chief struck an upbeat tone, stating that given time and a new regulatory structure Japanese game makers could once again lead the world.
