Although we reported earlier that the price of the console won't be cut in the as it has been in the and Japan, this isn't true in the strictest sense of the word. Apparently, the trade price has in fact been chopped, after a currency-led rise earlier this year.

The new trade price of the Wii will apparently see retailers paying the same price for the console as they did before the March rises, meaning that while the price might not fall in most shops, retailers won't have to absorb the previous rise, either.

This, in turn, will apparently pave the way for a new Wii bundle in the UK and Ireland, which will add in the Wiimote add-on, as well as Wii Sports and even Wii Sports Resort.

This from Nintendo: "The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers. Our aim has always been to expand the gaming population and there are still many more people out there who have not yet experienced the fun of video games. This compelling offer will hopefully make Wii more accessible to everyone."

So, we'll just have to wait and see what UK retailers deem us worthy of, it would seem. Thanks to the BBC.
