Veteran game maker has in the past admitted that stretched resources at Frontier Development has meant that progress on the eagerly awaited Elite IV has been sluggish.

That said, Braben is still very much committed to the project, he assures, but the new Elite won't arrive until the team are happy with it - and it won't look the same as other games.

Speaking with GI.biz at the 'A Life in Videogames' bash, Braben said it would be 'mad' not make a new game in the hit series, but that a "different type of experience" is key.

Braben goes on to discuss the importance of taking risks in game development.
