HMV ditch GameOn event plans
New London expo plans shelved
The UK has been struggling to muster a big games show for the last few years, while the consumer mass of Games Convention and more recently GamesCom has dominated proceedings from Germany.
UK website giant Eurogamer.net last year garnered not inconsiderable success through their London-based expo, while Play.com also took a stab at the market with their own 'Live' shindig at Wembley Stadium.
One of this year's big hopes was a new event, GameOn, which was set to be based in London and organised and by retail chain HMV.
This event has now been canceled, we learn, the organisers having already moved the show from June to November.
"It is with great sadness that we announce that GameOn! London has been cancelled. For those who have purchased tickets, Seatem ticketing agency will directly process your refunds," reads official word.
The Eurogamer Expo, on the other hand, will return in strength next month in London and Leeds.
