XNA games set for Zune
Indie devs encouraged to go handheld
A special version of Project Gotham Racing has already been sighted for the newly released Zune HD media player, and it seems that this is just the beginning.
As part of Microsoft's attempts to lure players over from the iPod Touch and the iPhone, the Zune HD will also be getting community developed XNA releases.
As part of this initiative, XNA extensions have been launched allowing budding developers to create games for the Zune HD, including new Touch APIs empowering touch-screen support.
We also hear that an accelerometer API has been added to XNA leaving us in doubt that Microsoft are going after Apple with this move.
Of course, the Zune HD is presently only available in the USA, which means it'll be some time yet before Apple really need to start eying the competition nervously.
