Brand new Sonic coming from Sega in 2010
2D gameplay back en vogue
Chatting with US site Gamespot, Sega brand manager Ken Balough has let slip that a brand new Sonic game will be unleashed in 2010.
Tantalisingly titled Project Needlemouse at present, the game will feature 2D gameplay, but will sport lavish high-definition visuals - which presumably points to an Xbox 360 and PS3 release.
As noted, the game is set for release next year, and Balough says the development team are looking to appease "old-school" fans with this 2D release, who "have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay."
The game is built from the ground up, we hear, and speed will play a key role in the new title. We're hoping for more details very soon.
