The BBC's influential iPlayer on-demand TV service is going down a treat on the PlayStation 3, we're told, the Beeb telling us that some 10 percent of total iPlayer traffic now comes via Sony's console.

"User response to our new iPlayer for has been amazing. Although it's less than a week since we launched, iPlayer on PS3 now accounts for a massive 10 percent of all iPlayer viewing, overtaking (8.5 percent) to be our 2nd most popular platform for IP-delivered content," enthused exec Anthony Rose.

"We'll have to wait and see whether this holds up in the coming weeks, but this enthusiastic reception makes it clear that users do want iPlayer on their TV - something that bodes well for Canvas and other IPTV propositions."

We'll have more from auntie as we get it. Thanks CVG.
