Xbox 360 price cut confirmed in Japan
MS up the ante in the land of the rising sun
Better late than never, Microsoft have today confirmed the new pricing of the Xbox 360 console in Japan.
The Elite model SKU will fall over 100 USD 29,800 Yen (about 320 USD), while the Pro will be phased out with retailers open to set their own pricing for remaining stocks.
The Arcade model SKU, meanwhile, will stay at 19,800 Yen - a far cry from the UK where the price of the console was actually put up by Microsoft - who blamed this move on the falling value of the UK's currency.
Whether this initiative will be enough to give the Xbox 360 more momentum in the land of the rising sun remains to be seen, but with the PS3 Slim and a new Sony price point now emerging, it looks like we'll bare witness to an interesting tussle.
More from Japan as we get it.
