Experts question 360 cut's impact on sales
More to come, says EEDAR
Analysts EEDAR say that in spite of Microsoft slashing the price of the Xbox 360 Elite model, that they don't believe the pre-Christmas maneuver will have a big impact on console sales.
"Forecasting for the remainder of the year, EEDAR does not expect the Xbox 360 to see a significant sales lift over last year's performance despite its price drop for the Xbox 360 Elite system," Jesse Divnich, chief analyst at the firm told GI.biz.
"In fact, the consistency of sales would indicate that the 299 USD price point is a sweet spot for the next-generation home consoles."
Divnich sees the Elite model falling to 249 USD within a year, putting further pressure on both Sony and Nintendo - while a bundle including Natal could then come in at 299 USD at the close of 2010. More soon.
