Ex-Gamecock devs lock horns with SouthPeak
Third-parties still awaiting payment
SouthPeak and several former Gamecock employees and partners could be on the brink of locking horns in the courts, the latter accusing the former of not paying ex-contractors following the 2008 take-over of Gamecock.
Gamecock's former devs state that they were promised cheques in the post, but these have still yet to arrive, prompting the threat of legal action.
Apparently, payments were expected over eight months ago, the money involved ranging from just few hundred dollars, right up to much bigger sums, which have forced lay-offs at subsidiary studios like Cyan Worlds.
"800 dollars to 800,000 dollars, they were all given essentially the same treatment," says ex-Gamecock chief Mike Wilson. "All moneys owed and receivables booked were disclosed in detail before the transaction could close, with us and our investors having to sign declaring that this was 'everything'."
The list of unpaid third-parties is seemingly extensive, while SouthPeak hint that paying all outstanding bills in full could land them in financial peril.
