Xbox 360 Pro on the way out?
Elite model price drop predicted
Speculation this morning has it that the Xbox 360 Pro system could be on the way out, with Microsoft said to be on the brink of dropping the price of the Elite model SKU to the old 299.99 USD price inhabited by the Pro.
Tittle tattle to this effect has been doing the rounds for some time, with word reaching us via Kotaku that retailer Meijer has fliers and adverts ready for August 30th, confirming the new Elite pricing.
With Sony expected to announce a PS3 price cut at GamesCom Cologne, it seems Microsoft could also be moving to head-off this potential sales boost with a cut of their own.
If Microsoft do press ahead with this reduction, only the Elite and Arcade models will be left at lower and higher price points. The Elite model comes with a jumbo-sized 120Gb hard-disk. More on this idle gossip soon, we'd wager.
