Wii sales take the lead in Japan
Monster Hunter pushes up Wii interest
The power of the Monster Hunter brand in Japan once again plays a key role in the hardware sales battle this week, sales for the week ending August 2nd putting the Wii way out ahead.
The console had been a distant third-place in the previous week's hardware chart, but the release of Monster Hunter Tri exclusively on the console appears to have given the Wii a timely boost in the land of the rising sun.
Sales last week topped 95,000 for the Wii, followed by the DSi with less than 74,000 units sold.
Third was the PSP with just over 33,000 sales, the DS Lite next with a respectable 12,000 or so.
Then there's the PS3 with just shy of 9,000 units shifted, the PS2 and Xbox 360 sixth and seventh with around 3,500 a piece. More soon.
