Gotfrag.com, an e-sports news site, is today carrying word of shocking events that transpired last Saturday evening at a Cyber X Games organised tournament in LA. The events took place outside of the Gamers X LAN Centre, host of the CXG Los Angeles Qualifier, and saw two rival 'clans' fighting in the streets after the event. If such behaviour wasn't bad or embarrassing enough, an employee of Cyber X, Chris Hill, the President's son, was threatened at gunpoint by someone associated with the team 'BZ', after attempting to break-up the fighting.

As a result of this disturbance, Cyber X will be introducing new rules and measures at future tournaments, and are also in discussions with the LA police about apprehending those responsible. What cannot be measured at this time is the harm done to the credibility of gaming as a legitimate pastime and competitive sport. As a result of this the tournament was also halted early to prevent further retribution before those responsible could be arrested. It appears gaming's gradual move towards acceptance as a mainstream may have some way to go if this behaviour is anything to go by.
