Ubisoft explains Splinter Cell delay
Guillemot delivers more polish
Yesterday, Ubisoft admitted that four big name releases have been delayed, Red Steel 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction falling into the firm's Q4 bracket (which could see releases in between January and March 2010).
Speaking in the wake of this news, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot said that both these titles would benefit from the extra development time; a little more spit and polish, as it were.
"The changes on Splinter Cell and Red Steel - it's just a question of polish. The team was asking that they couldn't be with the level of quality on all the maps and all the game for the end of the year, so they had asked for more time to be able to come with a better product, for both of those games," Guillemot tells us.
While the delays could hit both titles by about a million initial sales, the CEO believes their respective shelf-lives will be extended, thereby resulting in more sales over the longer-term.
