Speaking to G4 veteran gamer maker Tim Sweeney of has revealed that it may be a few years before we see a new Unreal Tournament game on shelves.

"Unreal Tournament is certainly a major long-term priority but we're planning not to release a major game in the series. for several years," Sweeney told the TV station.

"So we have that effort somewhat on hold while we work on a few other initiatives."

Presumably, Epic are busy focussing on projects like Gears of War, and potentially a new IP or two, while Sweeney does assure that this isn't the end of UT, the community being supported via wider access to the game engine and new tools in the future. Modders-delight, it would seem.
