Double Fine hit back over Brutal Legend lawsuit
Another twist in the tale
Activision have already launched a legal challenge against developer Double Fine attempting to prevent the release of Brutal Legend (the firm were originally set to publish before EA entered the fold), but now Double Fine have hit back with a suit of their own.
Double Fine believe Activision don't really want to publish Brutal Legend, rather they are simply acting in an attempt to protect sales of Guitar Hero - or so the case alleges.
Activision, according to the latest filings, dropped their publishing role on Brutal Legend after realising the game wouldn't work as a Guitar Hero spin-off. A hearing of Activision's case against their former development partner is scheduled for the end of the month.
This isn't likely to be pretty, Double Fine having asserted for some time that Activision are hell-bent on prevent the release of their musical action-adventure game, which stars Jack Black.
We'll bring you more on this as the plot inevitably thickens.
