UK watchdog the ASA is to crack down on advertising for violent video games, that's the word in this morning from the suits at MCV.

The board want advertisers to consider the 'wider context' of their adverts and will apparently deliver new guidelines to publishers and agencies.

The ASA hope that in the future, publishers will do more than merely adhere to the letter of the law, noting that despite this issuance, only one percent of video game ads have been pulled in the last 12 months.

Rather, this initiative is designed to ensure a problem doesn't arise in the first place. What are your thoughts on the advertising of games, do agencies and publishers sometimes push their luck?
